2019 Outdoor Sportsman’s Club

High Power Sporting Rifle

 

Dates: Mondays from July 1st to July 29th, 2019 (rain or shine)

Time: Starting at 6:30 p.m.

Cost: $20.00 for the season. Sign-up quickly as there is only 1 relay of 15 shooters. If there are any open positions, walk-on shooters may sign-up for $5.00 for that evening.

  • Open to the public.
  • No Steel core ammo.
  • Required equipment – Manually operated or Semi-auto high powered rifle. All safeties must function properly. Ammunition, Magazines if needed (clips for the M1 Garand guys), Eye protection, Ear protection and Empty Chamber Indicator.
  • Optional equipment – Shooting Mat, Sling, Shooting jacket, Glove for support hand, Knee roll, Baseball hat, Brass catcher/deflector, pen/clipboard.
  • Slings are permitted for prone, sitting / kneeling only. No sling for the standing position.
  • Any sighting system welcome.
  • No Bipods or rests of any kind.
  • The firing procedure & COF are below. This is a slightly modified version of the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program's High Power Rifle Qualification course.
  • Targets NRA A-21 @ 100 yards,
  • Round count 30.
  • Once the line is safe, shooters will walk down range after each string of fire to score and paste up their own targets, scorecards and pasters provided.

High Power Sporting Rifle Procedure & COF

 

Place your equipment at your firing line position, (YOUR NUMBER IS AT YOUR RIGHT)

Insert an empty chamber indicator and muzzles are pointed downrange.

Collect your target, backer, and score card.

NO sighters, bipods or alibis

“The line is safe, go forward and check your targets"

Return to your position, behind safety line.

"Your one minute preparation period begins now-Eyes and Ears”

You may handle your firearm now. You can remove ECI. Place your eye & ear protection.

You will have 1 minute to ready magazines, dry-fire, prep your area, etc.

Do not insert magazine at this time.

-SLOW FIRE PRONE, SITTING/KNEELING, STANDING-

"Shooters, you may load"
   Load internal or insert magazine.

 

“Is the line ready?” “The line is ready”

“You will have 2 ½ minutes to shoot 5 shots. Commence firing"

When finished insert ECI. Step back from equipment.

-RAPID FIRE PRONE, SITTING/KNEELING, STANDING -

 

"Manuals, with one in chamber and safety on, load"

"Semi-autos, with an empty chamber and closed bolt, load"
           Remove ECI. Load internal or insert magazine.

 

“Is the line ready?” “The line is ready”

 

“Manual rifles – Start” 30 seconds to shoot 5 shots.

Assume position, safety off, and commence fire.

 

“Semi-autos – Start”   25 seconds to shoot 5 shots.
Assume position, rack bolt, and commence fire.

When finished insert ECI. Step back from equipment.
