Basic Pistol Course

Cost: $35 per person; limit of 24 students

This one-day course will cover the following topics:

  • Safe handling of firearms
  • Handgun function and nomenclature
  • How to load and unload a handgun
  • Proper marksmanship fundamentals

This course is designed for those individuals that are new to handguns, have recently purchased their first handgun, or those looking to brush up on basic fundamentals.  The course will consist of classroom instruction and practical application exercises including dry fire and live fire on an indoor range.

Students will be responsible for providing the following:

  • A properly functioning and safe centerfire or rimfire handgun
    • Firearms must arrive in their own case separate from ammunition
    • Standard velocity (non-magnum) chamberings only
  • At least 1 magazine (for semi-automatic handguns only)
  • 100 rounds of ammunition
    • Target ammunition only – no hollow-point, frangible, or incendiary rounds will be allowed
  • At least 3 dummy rounds in the correct size for your handgun
  • Eye and ear protection (recommend both ear muffs and ear plugs due to indoor range conditions)
