Red Dot Training Session 2

This is an Outdoor Sportsman’s Club sponsored training event that is free to all OSC members.  The instructors are current Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors and active members of the Outdoor Sportsman’s Club.  The 4-hour course will cover general topics about Red Dot Sights (RDS).

There will be two sessions on two different dates.

The first session on Monday August 9,2021 from 4pm-8pm. It will focus on subject matter geared for those WHO DO NOT HAVE an optic.  Information and discussion will focus on RDS selection and use.

The second session on Tuesday August 10,2021 from 4pm-8pm.  It will focus on subject matter geared for those WHO DO HAVE an optic.  Information and discussion will focus on RDS selection, use of an optic on your handgun, and review of suggested RDS techniques.  The training will conclude with live fire drills using your RDS.

Tuesday August 10,2021 4pm-8pm

This date is being offered for those members who HAVE a red dot sight mounted pistol.  This class is a combination of classroom training and live fire drills conducted by Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors The course will review the following topics:

  • Red Dot Sight Theory
  • Characteristics of a good optic
  • Optic Brands
  • Mounting Options and handgun RDS setup considerations
  • Use of back-up iron sights (BUIS)
  • Zeroing the RDS
  • Pistol Handling with a mounted optic
  • Dealing with Parallax and occluded optics
  • Alternate aiming techniques
  • Using RDS with a hand-held flashlight technique

 Required Equipment: 

  • Pistol with RDS and three magazines
  • Holster and Magazine pouches
  • 100 rounds of pistol ball ammo for your handgun
  • Hand held flashlight
  • Hat with a brim
  • Eye & ear protection
  • Weather appropriate gear
  • Hydration and snacks as you need

Each session is  limited to 20 participants.
